Mexico City – Day 1 Itinerary

Hello friends! I just got back from my first time ever in La Ciudad de Mexico (Mexico City) I am so excited to share what I did during my stay.

Technically my first day in CDMX was June 18th, but our plane arrived at 9pm and we didn’t get into our Airbnb until 10ish….

June 19th- My sister and I decided we needed to sleep in to catch up on our rest, since we had been traveling or in delayed airports the whole day prior. So we ended up heading to brunch around 12pm. The location of our brunch was Doña Blanca! The black and white decor of this space was super cute! I loved dining in their back covered patio, it felt so nice and fresh. This restaurant was super close to the house we were staying in so we basically walked everywhere from this point onward.

Post brunch we walked to El Ángel de la Independencia, the Angel of Independence; “The Angel of Independence, most commonly known by the shortened name El Ángel and officially known as Monumento a la Independencia (“Monument to Independence”), is a victory column on a roundabout on the major thoroughfare of Paseo de la Reforma in downtown Mexico City.”

As you can tell, I enjoyed a nice little photoshoot on the top tier of the monument. It had incredible views of the city. You’re surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the city going around you but it was truly a calming place to be.

After this little adventure we decided to hop on a Turibus bus tour of the city and saw a lot of sights that we wouldn’t have otherwise seen. Also, this way we’d get a feel of the whole city in order to know where to go up next! Although I became obsessed with the Condesa neighborhood, we were unable to make it there during this trip and I will definitely need to go back.

After our bus tour we headed to dinner la Chinampa. My sister and I shared a few dishes and they were so bomb. I had chicken pozole, chicken flautas, queso fundido, guac, chicken costra which is a cheese wrapped shredded chicken center wrapped in a homemade flour tortilla. It was delish.

Post dinner was dessert at El Moro Churrería ( their branding is aesthetic goals)

That concludes my first day in CDMX! This city literally has so so so much to offer! There is definitely something here for everyone! Stay tuned for the following day itineraries! Then an IGTV coming to my insta soon 🙂
